Verve architects secured a Planning consent to refurbish 40 semi-detached bungalows formerly part of the Married Quarters complex in the attractive village of Brington.

All the existing buildings reflect the original utilitarian function, they are completely idential with white painted blockwork walls and unattractive concrete tiled roofs. The renovation improves the appearance of the dwellings by over cladding with Eternit Cedral Weatherboarding.

The existing thermal envelope incorporates additional wall insulation to increase energy efficiency. A new entrance canopy hides ugly meter boxes and houses integrated letter boxes and property numbers.

Pastel colours have been used to create an attractive street scene. The cohesive palette of colours will ensure that the 40 dwellings have an overall identity which works well together, transforming the former married quarters into a pleasant neighbourhood.
