"The existing stock is the real challenge" (Bill Gething, Design For Future Climate). The Technology Strategy Board is supporting the first climate change adaptation study in the education sector to apply Passivhaus EnerPhit standards.

The retrofit of the Victorian Villa 'Southfield' will implement a 'fabric first' passive design approach to achieve the stringent low energy level requirement set by the Passivhaus Institute's EnerPHit (refurbishment) Standard.

The principal low impact goal is to keep the buildings and outside environment cool in summer without increasing carbon emmissions. The project also aims to enhance the School buildings' resilience and conserve water.

St Faith's School fully supports sustainable design to ensure a 'lifetime' approach for the buildings and the environment. This project will ''adapt an evolved and familiar built environment so that it is fit for an unfamiliar future'' (Design For Future Climate).
